SECOND UPDATE:
Well, I think I'll give up on this diary - I can't keep up, and it does seem that - finally - the media is picking up on the issue:
10/22 -In a sign of how rapidly the virus is spreading, education officials said 198 schools in 15 states were closed Wednesday because of swine flu, with more than 65,000 students affected. That was up from 88 school closings the day before .
UPDATE: This is spotty - I just started a new job and can't be as meticulous - it gives a sense of the closures but isn't the complete picture... haven't found a national website that lists all the school closures - if anyone finds one, let me know!
This is my first diary, so I'm not sure if I can set it up right... but I wanted to list the US schools that have closed due to swine flu (for a few days or however long), as a way to track the largest clusters of flu... maybe it will help... if nothing else, it might show that the US policy of "not closing schools due to flu" is simply not working well!
So - I invite you to cross-post any news notices of schools closing due to flu, starting with the Fall season (try to capture the closure date). I will gather up and post those that have already been posted, and I will try to create a list/summary as this diary grows, so we can see it in some order, probably by state. (Note - the ones with asterisks are whole districts)
