Tagging diaries with "image" - Help appreciated!

by: lugon

Mon Jun 04, 2007 at 05:07:27 AM EDT

I'm collecting pictures for presentations, so I just looked into all tags (sorted alphabetically), and found there are a few tags like "chart", "graph", "graphs", "graphics" even when they are in comments! ... but many of the relevant diaries are not tagged.  I'm changing (actually, adding) all current tags to "image" (I feel it's the most generic name, and can easily be changed afterwards) and will look for some other diaries and tag them with it.  Help is welcome.  Thanks!

Update: All of SusanC's diaries that have images have been tagged.  Maybe we could tag "map" diaries where appropriate?

In the process of fulfilling this task, the urgency that a potential pandemic caused by the H5N1 virus instills in planners lies not in its imminence, but in the enormous amount of work required to prepare the whole world.

We, indeed the whole of humanity, will not have a future unless we do everything in our power to protect the young.  We must not fail.

Why do we look at data, anyway? A Fluwiki discussion

by: FloridaGirl

Fri May 04, 2007 at 23:24:37 PM EDT

(An Important Discussion - needs some time on the Front Page - promoted by AnnieB)

The discussion in this diary involves any interested persons who wish to contribute their thoughts and ideas.  How can we improve the work we are doing?

While we do great work here. . . there is always room for improvement.
Data is exacting work under normal circumstances.  We are not operating under those conditions.  We use the information we find in unlikely sources though the work of many people.  Some of those people have gone to great extremes to continue to locate information when it seems the flow of info has dried up, or toggletext is down.  Unfortunately for us, those sources are not consistent, do not have follow up, sometimes give conflicting information, and (to top it off) is found in a foreign language.

So how do we even begin to discuss this?  (Since we are operating under very different rules.)  Let's start with some very basics.

There's been a lot of heated debate about whether it is irresponsible, indeed unethical for the CDC Interim guidance to use 2% CFR or above as Cat 5 for planning purposes.

Reporting from the CDC Community Mitigation Meeting Dec 11-12 Atlanta #1

by: SusanC

Tue Dec 12, 2006 at 02:08:51 AM EST

UPDATE Dec 18 link.

White House announcement today on 6 month status report includes this on NPI:
Community-Wide Mitigation Strategies: We have focused unprecedented attention on the role of community-wide mitigation strategies, such as early school closure, cancellation of public gatherings, and other "social distancing" behaviors in reducing illness during a pandemic. Interim guidance on the ways communities can use these interventions most effectively will be released in January.

Things are moving.  Watch this space.

Some great files, docs, and downloads here. Remember, though, that some of the files are very large and can take a long time to transfer if you're using a dial-up connection as opposed to broadband.
